Ellmer School of Nursing
My Story
Before pursuing nursing, I earned my first bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Virginia Commonwealth University, a path that helped shape my commitment to advocacy, integrity and service to others. Over the past 8 years, I have gained extensive experience in healthcare, working in a variety of setting including an outpatient dialysis clinical as a Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician, a patient care technician on the Orthopedic/Spine Unit in a Level I Trauma center, and most recently a Level III NICU.
I graduated from Brightpoint Community College with my Associate Degree in Nursing and have since begun my nursing career in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where I have truly found my passion. The NICU has deepened my appreciation for the qualities that define an exceptional nurse -- compassion, patience, adaptability, critical thinking, and strong communication skills. These characteristics guide my practice every day as I care for the most fragile and vulnerable patients and support their families through some of their most challenging moments.
Outside of nursing, I enjoy spending my free time relaxing traveling with the people i love. Working night shift means sleep is especially precious to me, and I cherish every moment of rest I can get. I also enjoy reading, cooking, watching movies, going tot he beach, and traveling -- something I am excited to more of now that school is completed. Most importantly, I value you making memories with my family, friends and fiance, who has supported me through my educational journey.
Looking ahead, I am excited to continue growing in my role as a NICU nurse. I am passionate about lifelong learning and plan to pursue advanced certifications and eventually become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner. I remain committed to providing high- quality, family-centered care and to becoming a strong advocate for every infant and family entrusted to me.
